After attending a few seminar about internet marketing (or more generally people call it "making money online"), I just want to share my 5cents knowledge and thoughts here. To make money on the internet, you need a website, a website can be a blog, a content-based website, online store and etc. Just like making money in convetion way, a website on the internet is just like a store on the street. To make money, you need to have people visit the store and buy something; In the internet world, you need to have people visit your website and buy something, more generally we call it "the traffic". This is of course the very basic and high level on how to make money on the internet, some of the internet marketer that I know use google AdWords to make money, this is some cool stuff that I have yet to learn about.


Back to the making money online, this is a few points that I think how a website can make money for you,
- Advertisement - I guess lots of people heard of AdSense, where google add advertisement related to your website content in your website, whenever visitor click on it, you get paid. Something that's more popular for Malaysia would be the nuffnang, http://www.nuffnang.com.my/. In addition to all of that, you can actually have banner space on top, left or right of your website allows advertiser to put ads banners on your website and you can charge them a monthly "rental" for that space.


- Selling something - I guess that's the core activity of any business, which is selling a product, a service or a combination of both.On the internet, you can help others to sell their product and earn a commision, that's what they call "affiliate". One of the place you can find affiliate program is clickbank, http://www.clickbank.com/


- Sell off your website - I would say this is an exit strategy, when you have enough monthly traffic and good ranking in google search, you can sell off your website to earn some great money. How much you can sell it? It depends on your website "assets", which is the "traffic" - how many people visit your website, "revenue" - how much money your website is currently making for you, and a nice domain name. Normally you can sell 10x of whatever your website is making now.



All of the above are just some of the knowledge that I learned from the expert, I'm sure there are many more guru out there using many different strategy to make money online, maybe they can share it here as well.
